Why AI Isn’t Stealing Your Clients

Apr 21, 2025

AI is everywhere.

From chatbots to design tools to voice generators, it’s shaping how we work, play, and create. And yet, there’s a growing trend of people being shamed for using it.

Let’s talk about that.

I’m hearing this across the board

From artists, photographers, content writers, even coaches.

The message is the same:

“AI is taking work away.”

But is that really what’s happening?

Take the box doll trend. People are turning themselves into AI-generated toy-style images.

Is it fun? Yes. Is it replacing an artist or a photographer? No.

Because the people using these trends weren’t going to book a photoshoot or commission an illustration. It’s not for a wall. It’s not for a marketing campaign. It’s just a social post.

Would they go to a pro photographer for branding images? No.

Would they pay a digital artist hundreds or thousands for custom work? No.

Because it’s not where they see value.

And that’s the key point: it’s all about value.

Some people would never spend £1,000 on a piece of art.

But they’d drop that same amount on a designer handbag.

Or a fancy blender.

Or a PT.

Or a coach.

It comes down to where they see the benefit.

We all value things differently based on what matters to us - and on our budget.

If someone is running a business with high turnover, they’re more likely to invest in photographers, copywriters, designers, and consultants.

Because they can, and because they want bespoke support that gets results.

But someone earlier in the journey, or with less cash flow, might need to get creative.

They’ll turn to AI for content, images, writing - because it helps them get moving.

That doesn’t mean they don’t value your work.

It means they’re doing what they can, with what they’ve got.

The truth is:

  • Some people will always choose human skill and pay for it.

  • Others are using AI as a stepping stone until they can invest in help.

  • And plenty use both—a real expert plus AI tools to speed things up.

Machines have been helping us for centuries.

We went from carrying loads to using donkeys, to tractors.

From calculators to computers.

AI is just the next step.

So let’s stop pretending it’s AI vs humans.

The real question is: are you adapting?

Because experts who embrace AI aren’t getting replaced.

They’re getting faster, sharper, and more in control.

If someone else using AI bothers you, ask yourself:

Is this really about AI?

Or is it a you problem?
